Design Director

Quebec

Old Quebec (Head office)

Full time

At La Maison Simons, our exclusive collections are shaped by bold vision, exceptional craftsmanship, and a collaborative approach to design. To bring this vision to life, we are seeking an inspired and strategic Design Director, ready to take the creative lead for our exclusive brands.

Reporting to the Vice-President of Design, you will play a key role in shaping and evolving the brand’s visual identity, while guiding a team of talented designers toward creative excellence. In close collaboration with the Buying, Marketing, Technical Development, and Manufacturing teams, you will oversee the development of exclusive collections that are modern, distinctive, and commercially successful. You will combine creative precision, strategic insight, and people-focused leadership to design products that are both desirable and responsible, perfectly aligned with our customers’ expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Define the artistic direction and mood boards in collaboration with the VP of Design and internal teams.
  • Inspire, guide, and mentor a team of designers in the creation of high-value collections.
  • Focus on the four pillars of design – fashion, fit, fabric, and finish – to ensure product excellence. Integrate trends and innovations in textiles, materials, and embellishments while aligning with sustainability goals.
  • Collaborate closely with internal departments to ensure consistency across silhouettes, prints, and colour palettes.
  • Analyze sales, trends, and customer behaviour to inform design decisions.
  • Oversee timelines and contribute to the ongoing optimization of the creative process.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, mentorship, and high performance within the team.

This role offers a unique opportunity to combine artistic vision, business acumen, and leadership in an environment where design is central to who we are.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design and Management, Graphic Design, Product Design, or any other relevant field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 10 years of experience in fashion design, including a minimum of 4 years in a leadership and team management role.
  • Expertise in women’s fashion, market trends, and consumer preferences.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in both French and English to effectively engage with all stakeholders.
  • Deep understanding of sustainable fashion practices and how to integrate them into the design process.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as needed.

Benefits

  • A telemedicine service and Employee and Family Assistance Program.
  • Group insurance plan and RRSP.
  • Up to 40% off Simons purchases.
